Streaming Audio Help Q: It keeps buffering. How do I fix that? A: The most common cause of buffering is an internet connection that is too slow. Please make sure you have an internet connection of at least 28.8 kbps. Note that even a broadband connection can have periods when it is slow due to increased traffic in your locality. Another possible contributor is activity taking place on your PC. Whenever your PC's processor is called upon to handle a task other than streaming playback, an interruption is possible. Results will vary depending on numerous factors like processor speed and memory. If streaming works fine as long as you don't use the machine for anything else, this may be the problem. Occasionally this can be corrected by closing the Windows Media Player or RealPlayer and re-launching the stream from our web site.
Q: I click the speaker icon and get a file download message that asks if I want to OPEN or SAVE a MP3 file. A: We have seen this after installing a player called WINAMP. To fix, open Winamp. Go to Options / Preferences / File Types / De-select WMA and ASF. The list may not be alphabetized so you may have to hunt around for these file types.
Q: I get an error message. A: Some firewalls can block our streaming. Check with the manufacturer of your firewall software to determine the safe way to enable streaming. One way to test and see if your firewall is indeed the problem is to disable the firewall completely and then try streaming from our website, however, we don't recommend continued operation without some kind of firewall. If you use software called Download Accelerator Plus, hold down the ALT key when you click the selected sermon link to temporarily disable browser integration of DAP.
Q: I'm a Macintosh user, how do I listen? A: You will need to download and install the free Windows Media Player or RealPlayer for Macintosh from the appropriate web site. The icons shown will take you to a page where you can find the appropriate player.
Q: I am a Linux user, how can I listen? A: A few listeners have reported success streaming using the MPlayer software, available from www.mplayerhq.hu. Exact instructions are difficult due to the many distributions of Linux but try this: 1. Download Win32 Codec for MPlayer from http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html Extract to /usr/local/lib/codecs directory 2. Download Mplayer Source Code http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/dload.html Extract to any directory you can work from. 3. from that work directory type: ./configure <--- Wait till done. make <--- Wait till done. make install <--- Wait till done. 4. Go to the File menu of MPlayer and choose Open Location 5. Type http://bibleb.wm.llnwd.net/bibleb_english in the box. 6. Click OK and wait for it to start. Another company sells a product called CrossOver Plugin. We have not tried it so let us know if you find it to work. The web address is: www.codeweavers.com/site/products
Q: Do you stream in the Real Audio format? A: We do not support the Real Audio format, only MP3 at this time.
Q: Everything LOOKS like it is working but I don't hear anything. A: You would not be the first to have forgotten to power on your speakers or turn up the volume. Be sure your system is able to produce sound.
Q: I still can't connect. What now? A: If you don't find your solution here, try downloading and installing or re-installing the latest version of Windows Media Player. Also, we recommend the latest version of Internet Explorer that works with your operating system. Both can be downloaded for free by following the links provided.
